The Vision

Flavelle Oceanfront is envisioned as a complete and connected oceanfront community, extending Port Moody’s urban fabric to its waterfront for the first time. Located a short walk to Moody Centre Station, the community vision provides for all the elements of an exceptional and balanced lifestyle: with opportunities to live, shop, work, socialize, and recreate, all thoughtfully woven into Metro Vancouver’s final opportunity to live in a new oceanfront home.

Master Plan Elements: Flavelle Oceanfront

Bringing the Oceanfront to Life

The Flavelle Oceanfront community vision is built on the following foundational elements that form a complete, connected, and exceptional community.

Activated Waterfront

Flavelle Oceanfront maximizes public access to the waterfront with over a kilometer of waterfront trails, and new connections to Rocky Point Park. A signature public plaza will serve as a waterfront “living room” for Port Moody to enjoy. Other public areas around the waterfront include parks and green spaces, natural areas, and recreational infrastructure.

Unlocking access to Burrard Inlet will create a new recreation destination with opportunities for waterfront dining and entertainment, human-powered boating, eco-tourism, and outdoor leisure activity.

Parks & Public Spaces

From amenity-rich park space to habitat conservation areas, a diverse series of parks and public spaces are proposed that invite people to connect with nature and each other. Over 7.5 acres of Flavelle Oceanfront will be dedicated for park space, habitat conservation areas, and an extension of the Shoreline Trail that will wrap the entire site –  enhancing the livability of the community and providing more outdoor recreation opportunities for all Port Moody residents.

Vibrant Retail

A vibrant commercial heart will animate Flavelle Oceanfront, with a high street connecting Brewer’s Row to the water’s edge. This area will be a focal point for the community, drawing residents and visitors to shop, dine, connect, and access daily conveniences – without stepping into a car. Boutique office space will provide the opportunity for employment. Potential for a hotel is also being explored to help enhance the Port Moody’s tourism infrastructure.

Transportation Options

Flavelle is conveniently located within a 10-minute walk of Moody Centre Station, featuring both SkyTrain and West Coast Express service. Port Moody’s street grid will be tied-into the site via a new multi-modal overpass designed to support vehicle access, pedestrians, and active transportation.

Beautiful New Homes

Metro Vancouver’s final opportunity for oceanfront living, Flavelle Oceanfront will provide over 3,300 new transit-oriented homes within a complete community. Mid- and high-rise buildings will be strategically arranged throughout the site, allowing you to select which amenities will be at your doorstep, and which will be only a short walk away.

Landscape & Public Art

Designed in harmony with the site’s spectacular natural setting, the landscape plan is key to making a neighbourhood that people feel good spending time in – while making the planet happy, too.

The legacy of the Flavelle sawmill as major economic and social institution in Port Moody will be shared through public art, landscape features, and interpretive displays. After shaping the development of Port Moody for over 100 years, recognition of the mill’s historic significance helps to preserve its legacy for generations to come.

Creative Light Industrial

Building on the success of Port Moody’s famous Brewer’s Row, Flavelle Oceanfront will extend the Murray St. light industrial district with over 100,000 sq. ft. of new urban light industrial space, because a complete community requires spaces in which to create. The building will be designed to accommodate a flexible range of light industrial activity that is compatible with urban living.
