Since 1905, Flavelle and its workers have proudly supported their families and helped to weave the economic and social fabric of Port Moody and our Province. The century-long history of Flavelle is a testament to the opportunities our country provides to people from all around the world. It is extraordinary that, like many of the workers who provided the foundation for Flavelle’s success, the current owners of Flavelle are Canadians with roots in Punjab, India and whose families came to British Columbia looking for a better life.
Founded in 1947, in Merritt, BC by the late Tara Singh Ghog, a pioneer in the forest industry, Aspen Planers (AP) Group of companies has built an extensive set of operations in forest products manufacturing while continuing to grow and diversify over 70 plus years as a family run business. In that time, AP Group has grown to include real estate, bioenergy, green home building, and transportation & logistics assets. AP Group’s green, sustainable building materials are sold globally and are at the core of many of North America’s largest construction and urban infrastructure projects.
For the last 35-plus years, AP Group has been active in the residential, commercial, and retail property development business. We have completed projects across Western Canada. In each project, our principles as a family-owned, family-operated business are present.
The 34-acre historic site has been an important piece of the City of Port Moody’s physical landscape for over 100 years. Located on the south shore of the Burrard Inlet, the site is neighboured by Rocky Point Park to the east, and the Pacific Coast Terminals to the west. The construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1886 divided the waterfront from the rest of the city. The Flavelle Oceanfront redevelopment plan will knit the community back together and provide public access to an oceanfront that is second to none.
Our vision is to create a sustainable oceanfront community in the heart of Port Moody that is unique, magical and unlike any other place. Central to this vision is providing homes for you and your families. More than that we want to create connections: to the ocean with accessible walking trails along the water’s edge, to nature with green spaces, and to the community with gathering places for residents and visitors to enjoy. We also envision a suite of different employment spaces for people to support their families and communities. The Flavelle Oceanfront Master Plan provides for this exciting transformation all within walking distance of Moody Centre Skytrain Station and the West Coast Express.
